The HBS 20 lists a width of 6.35 mm (a quarter inch); the size we make for it is 6 mm. Is your model not listed, such as the HBS 32 Vario or the Basa 5? Check the rating plate or the manual, or measure your old blade. If in doubt, ask us.
Do the HBS 30 and the Basa 1 use the same blade?
No. They look alike, but the HBS 30 uses 1400 mm and the Basa 1 uses 1490 mm. A 1400 mm blade does not fit a Basa 1. Always go by the full type designation.
Flexback or Chrome steel?
Flexback carbon steel cuts wood, plastic and non-ferrous metals and comes in many widths and tooth pitches. Chrome steel is made for soft to medium-hard wood such as construction timber and beams; it is less suitable for hardwood. On the smaller HBS and Basa machines, choose Flexback.
Width, thickness and tooth pitch
Width. A narrow 6 mm blade cuts tight curves. For straight cuts and thicker wood, take a wider one, for example 10 mm, but never wider than your machine can take.
Thickness. The smaller the wheels, the thinner the blade has to be. For the HBS 20, HBS 30 and Basa 1 we recommend Flexback 0.36 mm thick. Check the permitted thickness in the manual of your version.
Tooth pitch. A coarse tooth pitch for wood, a finer one for thin material. Which tooth pitch suits which thickness is explained in choosing the tooth pitch.
