1400 mm bandsaw blade: which one fits your machine?

Need a 1400 mm bandsaw blade? Compare the sizes for the Scheppach HBS 20/30, Parkside PBS 350 A1 and more. Check the width and thickness too.

A 1400 mm bandsaw blade fits, among others, the Scheppach HBS 20 and HBS 30, the Parkside PBS 350 A1, the Einhell TC-SB 200/1 and BT-SB 200 and the Atika BS 205-2. The same length does not mean every blade fits: width and thickness differ per machine. The Scheppach HBS 20 and the Atika state a thickness of about 0.35 mm, Einhell 0.65 mm.

Do you have a Güde GBS 200? That uses 1425 mm, not 1400 mm, so don't copy the size from this table. If you are unsure about your model, check the rating plate or the manual.

What is ordered in 1400 mm

In our count over the past six months, 1400 mm appeared in the most orders: 33 orders with 60 blades in total. Of those, 37 were 6 mm wide and 0.36 mm thick. The combinations 10 mm at 0.36 mm and 6 mm at 0.65 mm came up six times each. Which machine was behind them, we don't know.

Why the thickness matters

A bandsaw blade bends around the machine's wheels with every revolution. The smaller the wheels, the thinner the blade has to be: on small wheels a thick blade bends too sharply and breaks sooner. So choose the thickness the manufacturer gives for your machine. In 6 mm wide we make Flexback in 0.36 mm and in 0.65 mm.

Width and tooth pitch

A narrow 6 mm blade cuts tight curves. For straight cuts take a wider one, but never wider than your machine can take. You choose the tooth pitch by the material: a coarse tooth pitch for wood, a finer one for thin material. Which tooth pitch suits which thickness is explained in choosing the tooth pitch.

How do you check the size of your old blade?

Put a mark on the back of your old blade, lay it on the floor with the mark at the bottom and roll it along a straight line until the mark is at the bottom again. The distance between the two points is the length. Measure the width from the back to the tip of a tooth, and the thickness with a caliper on the blade itself, not on the teeth.
